About Marie Halcrow
Marie is a Scottish-French pianist and composer. She completed her degrees in Sonoma County wine country, working in production at the Green Music Center, and double-majoring in vocal performance and audio engineering. As a working musician, Marie is a recording artist and sub house music producer. Her musical canon showcases an ability to merge classical discipline with contemporary production, and an acoustic performance artistry reminiscent of 17th century, french airs de cours. Her production work is characterized by floating vocals, a driving sub, cutting synths, and a signature vocal delivery that takes shape through spoken cadence equally as intentionally as through melody. Having branded a timeless aesthetic, she defines herself philosophically with nuance, wit, brevity & sardonic edge — often detailing age old estrangements of love, fragility & ego. Tied together by threads of romance and legacy, exploring her work feels like letting time stand still. She has the vocal range & tenor of a dramatic contralto — noted influences are Wagner, Hemingway & Rimbaud.
