First Notes Classes for Ages 0 to 3
Taught by Heather Hirshfield
First Notes classes are interactive, live experiences for the whole family! Taught by the same experienced, skilled musicians who teach in the schools, classes are filled with live music and fun activities for everyone in the family.
Baby Classes
First Notes is the perfect introduction to music of babies and toddlers.
There are many benefits to early music education in children including emotional development, early development of fine motor skills, socialization, and early recognition of rhythm and counting. Children who progress through the First Notes program are often ready to begin music lessons by 4 years old.
Children who are engaged in music and the performing arts find personal fulfillment while developing their identity, creativity, intellect, social connections, work ethic, and craftsmanship.
First Notes music education and performance programs impart important life skills and prepare children for success as parents, members of the community, and in fields such as the arts, science, education, medicine, engineering, politics, business, and law.
Marlton Music Academy serves the communities of Cherry Hill, Marlton, Haddonfield, Voorhees, Mount Laurel, and surrounding areas. We teach piano lessons, guitar lessons, voice lessons, violin lessons, drum lessons, acting lessons, a cappella, musical theater classes, baby music classes, toddler music classes, rock band classes, rock band camps, and musical theater summer camps. First Notes provides quality music and performing arts education to more than two thousand students each week. To provide the highest quality of education and service to our families, we employ degreed musicians and school administration staff who are fully supported by ongoing academic coordination.
Progression
Babies – You and your child will learn to sing songs, solfeggio melodies (“do-re-mi”), basic counting and rhythm (quarter and eighth notes), and fun ways to use small homemade instruments! One of the BEST things about First Notes Babies is that you will learn so many ways to enjoy music at home with your child!
Toddlers to Pre-K: As children become more independent, we help them to master musical concepts such as singing on pitch, counting, understanding musical concepts such as piano (quiet), forte (loud), presto (fast), and largo (slow), and begin to develop their confidence singing and playing small instruments like the xylophone.
In all classes, we introduce solfege (do, re, mi…), and rhythm symbols (Ta, Ti-Ti, and Rests) which are the universal language of music
