Our Approach to Voice Lessons
Voice Lessons Should Be Fun!
Finding your own voice is one of life’s great pleasures – and learning how to use it makes that feeling even sweeter! We want every student to LOVE their music lessons and find fulfillment in learning how to sing.
Our voice teachers create a positive and supportive learning environment where you can succeed, no matter your starting point or level of experience. Whether you are singing in a choir, a musical theatre ensemble, as a soloist, or just in the car, our experienced teachers can help you build confidence and have fun, while working on music you enjoy.
We Emphasize Healthy Technique
Singing may look simple enough, but the voice is a complex series of systems that form an expressive and delicate living instrument inside of each of us. Perhaps more than any other musical discipline, having an experienced voice teacher to assist you in training these processes to work together is key to a healthy, lifelong enjoyment of singing.
Our highly-trained instructors will assist you in learning strong fundamentals including proper breathing, diction, resonance, stage presence, and non-verbal expression. We strive to ensure that our voice students become literate musicians, so lessons will also include discussions of music theory, history, and rhythm. Mastering these technical basics will broaden your horizons and allow you to explore many different styles and genres of music in the future!
We Care About Your Musical Interests
We teach all styles of singing, including musical theatre, classical, contemporary/pop, jazz, country, and folk. Your voice is unique – and therefore, your instruction should be, too. Whether you are a beginner, have some experience, or are an accomplished performer with a desire to further develop your skills, our teachers will provide customized guidance designed to advance your individual goals.
Learn from our experienced staff of professional singers and graduates from several prestigious musical programs. We approach each lesson with a goal of inspiring creativity, instilling confidence, and exploring the dimensions of what your special voice can do.
Our Voice Teachers:
Our private voice teachers, together with our class voice teachers, primarily focus on popular music and musical theatre songs. If you have always wanted to be a better rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel, theatre, or R&B singer, then we have the right voice teachers for you!
Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, vibrato, tone production, enunciation and more.
All voice students set goals with their teacher to work on sounding like their favorite recording artists, preparing for a contemporary performance, theatre audition, or if they prefer, to develop their own unique voice just because.

Frequently Asked Questions
Get StartedWhat Is a Good Age to Start Voice Lessons?
The minimum age we recommend a student start voice lessons is 7 years old. Many parents want their child to start much younger, but a voice lesson that focuses strictly on technique can be very challenging on younger vocal cords that have not yet developed. We are happy to help you learn more and determine if your child is ready!
Teens and adults are welcome and may also want to include voice lessons with another instrument they are learning.
Our Voice Teachers
Our voice instructors are highly qualified, all have teaching experience, and most importantly, they have a passion for teaching. Being a musician doesn’t automatically make you a teacher–that’s why we search for those who are best qualified for mentoring our music students!
We search the entire area for the top teachers, who embody the high values at CCSOM. Most importantly, our instructors strive to relate their teaching to each individual student’s learning style. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the USA and Europe and have years of professional performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching abilities, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student and their parent or caregiver on a personal level. We do local, state, and federal background checks on all instructors and we search high and low for the BEST teachers, so you don’t have to!
What Styles of Singing Do You Teach?
We teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, worship, blues and classical. We combine the important fundamentals with the music YOU want to play. With experienced teachers at Cape Coral School of Music, you are sure to find we are the best match for YOU.
How Long Does it Take to Learn to Sing?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn to play. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
What Will I Learn from Voice Lessons?
Our teachers understand that every student is an individual, with personal musical needs and goals. We make it a priority to tailor how we teach and what we teach to your individual needs.
If you enroll here for voice lessons, your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child. Together, you will develop a plan to achieve your goals! We love beginners, so even if you don’t know where to begin, we can help!
I Don’t Have Any Musical Background Or Ability. Can I Still Help My Child Practice?
Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child’s music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be projecting their voice. We also send lesson notes weekly and sometimes create videos to help in the most effective way possible.
