Regardless of your ultimate goals, our teachers will prioritize strong fundamentals including proper posture, hand positioning, chords, fretting, picking, and strumming. As students progress, these basics will become second nature – and serve as the foundation from which students can apply their skills across a variety of genres and styles.
We want our guitar students to be literate, well-rounded musicians. Beginners and seasoned performers alike will find value in our approach, coupling technical instruction with elements of music theory and music history in each lesson.
We Care About Your Musical Interests

Our Guitar Teachers:
Our guitar teachers teach Electric, Steel String Acoustic, and Nylon string guitar, as well as Bass guitar. We offer rock, blues, metal, country and classical guitar lessons. Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading, and theory. We balance musicianship and fun by making sure that in each lesson you are challenged with a new technical or theory concept.
Lessons end with something fun such as your favorite riff or song. We use a variety of guitar method books to accomplish this and encourage students to bring CD’s or their iPod to their lesson to learn their favorite tunes. Our teachers can even help you with guitar repair: such as the set up of your guitar or replacing your strings!

Frequently Asked Questions
Get StartedWhat Age Should My Child Start Guitar Lessons?
The minimum age recommended for starting guitar lessons is 7 years old. Due to the thickness of the strings and fine motor skills needed to play the instrument, we do not recommend starting guitar any younger. For younger students, we recommend learning the ukulele.
The minimum age we recommend a student start ukulele lessons is 5 years old. For younger students, we recommend an intro to music program. Starting age will largely depend on the student, some may need to wait longer than others depending on factors such as fine motor skills, attention span and overall interest in music.
Do I Need a Guitar/Ukulele to Start the Lessons?
Yes, you will need a guitar or ukulele to start the lessons. Without an instrument, you won’t be able to practice between lessons and make weekly progress. If cost is a concern, good beginner guitars are inexpensive and most music stores have a 30-day return policy if it’s not for you.
How Long Does it Take to Learn Guitar & Ukulele?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn to play. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
How Qualified are Your Guitar Instructors?
Our instructors are highly qualified, all have teaching experience, and most importantly, they have a passion for teaching. Being a musician doesn’t automatically make you a teacher–that’s why we search for those who are best qualified for mentoring our music students!
We search the entire area for the top teachers, who embody the high values at CCSOM. Most importantly, our instructors strive to relate their teaching to each individual student’s learning style. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the USA and Europe and have years of professional performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching abilities, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student and their parent or caregiver on a personal level. We do local, state, and federal background checks on all instructors and we search high and low for the BEST teachers, so you don’t have to!
What Will I Learn from Guitar Lessons & Ukulele Lessons?
Our teachers understand that every student is an individual, with personal musical needs and goals. We make it a priority to tailor how we teach and what we teach to your individual needs.
If you enroll here for guitar or ukulele lessons, your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child. Together, you will develop a plan to achieve your goals! We love beginners, so even if you don’t know where to begin, we can help!
What Styles of Music Can I Learn?
We teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, worship, blues and classical. We combine the important fundamentals with the music YOU want to play. With experienced teachers at Cape Coral School of Music, you are sure to find we are the best match for YOU.
I Don’t Have Any Musical Background Or Ability. Can I Still Help My Child Practice?
Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child’s music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands. We also send lesson notes weekly and sometimes create videos to help in the most effective way possible.
