Frequently Asked Questions
Get StartedHow much do lessons cost?
$135/month. At the time of registration, the first payment covers your first month’s tuition and a non-refundable $35 registration fee and then billing is set to a monthly recurring charge.
How do private lessons work?
Private lessons are 30-minute one on one lessons of just you (or your child) and the teacher. We will help you find a day/time and you will attend the lesson at the same day/time each week.
Do you offer make-up lessons?
Yes. If you need to miss a lesson, you can provide a written notice 24 hours in advance in order to receive a makeup credit. You can do this by contacting us or marking yourself absent through the school’s student portal. If you do not provide advance notice of your absence, you will not be eligible for a make-up credit. Make-up lessons can only be scheduled in the time slot of another absent student.
Are students required to attend in-person?
No. In-person lessons are completely optional. You have the option of sometimes doing in-person, and sometimes doing Zoom. Although in-person lessons provide the best educational experience, we understand that it’s at times convenient to have a lesson from home.
Does Bucktown Music offer performance opportunities?
Yes! We know that it’s so important for students to have the opportunity to show off their hard work, and that family and friends love seeing them shine on stage. We have historically held 3 yearly recitals in the beautiful Fine Arts Building downtown. During the pandemic, we hosted a variety of virtual recitals and had people tune in from all over the globe. As of December 2021, we have returned to in-person recitals following recommended health guidelines.
