About Kyle Foley

Kyle is a full-time gigging musician and multi-instrumentalist who has been teaching music for over a decade. He offers comprehensive instruction across several instruments, teaching everything from guitar and beginner piano to advanced bass guitar. Bass is Kyle’s primary instrument, which he has been playing since high school when he performed on the upright double bass in the school orchestra. He picked up his other instruments shortly after and is now highly proficient in all three.

An active staple in the Austin-area music scene, Kyle plays bass, provides backing vocals, and occasionally sings lead in several local bands. His main project is the Tom Breton Band, a blues-rock group that performs a mix of covers and original music. Their newest single, “Nah Nah Goodbye,” is currently available on all streaming platforms. Kyle also plays in the ATX Rejects, a 90s grunge and alternative cover band celebrating the music of Nirvana, Weezer, Green Day, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Stone Temple Pilots. The ATX Rejects play monthly shows at both Shooters locations and various venues around town. Additionally, he performs in a lively pop-punk and emo cover band.

Teaching has been a cornerstone of Kyle’s life for over ten years. Growing up, he was guided by fantastic teachers who inspired a deep curiosity and confidence in music that still drives him today. He loves that learning an instrument opens up new possibilities, revealing hidden strengths and building a willingness to continuously improve. Understanding that musical growth requires practice and discipline, Kyle is dedicated to holding his students accountable and pushing them to succeed—striving to be the exact kind of mentor that helped him get to where he is today.
