About J.B. Mendez
With over three decades of playing experience, J.B. is now as much an enthusiastic teacher as he is a lifelong student of music. Growing up in a musical family, his home was constantly filled with songs and melodies. Initially, however, J.B.’s primary focus was on visual art. He spent his early years drawing and painting, unknowingly honing a creative mindset that would tremendously benefit his future musical endeavors.
After receiving a guitar in his late teens, J.B. quickly became obsessed with the instrument. Driven by a desire to master his craft, he enrolled in college a few years later to study classical guitar and music theory, vastly advancing his knowledge, skill, and playing techniques.
Channeling his strong artistic background, J.B. has since completed numerous original albums and currently writes and performs in four highly diverse bands. Reflecting on the limitless potential of his instrument, J.B. notes, “It’s hard to believe that there are so many diverse genres, everything from classical to metal, jazz to blues (and ect.) and all these use the same 6 strings on a piece of wood!”
