About Izzy
“Israel, or simply, Izzy, started his musical journey at the young age of five. His first encounter with the drum set was in his home church where he became well-aquatinted in Spanish Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music. Throughout his childhood, Izzy developed his musical knowledge by self-study but received guidance from many great mentors in his town. In the seventh grade, he was introduced to Jazz, this newfound musical world jump-started his next adventure and through this, he was able to hone his wonder into reaching notable achievements during his secondary schooling — 2nd chair all region Jazz 8th grade, 1st chair all region Jazz 10th-12th grade, 2nd chair All State Jazz 12th grade, and 1st chair All State Jazz 11th grade. After high school, Izzy continued his study of Jazz at Texas State University under the tutelage of the legendary Butch Miles – Count Basie Orchestra member, and later, after Butch’s retirement, Auther Latin – Harry Connick Junior’s band member. In December of 2022, Izzy successfully attained his Bachelor of Music in Performance. Today, Izzy is privileged to share his skills by educating eager young musicians and actively performing in a wide variety of local and national touring bands.”
