About Chris Wright

Chris Wright is a guitarist, pianist, and educator with a musical career spanning over twenty years. He first became interested in playing guitar as an early teen after being influenced by Guns N’ Roses. At the same time he developed an appreciation for the great classical composers and began piano lessons. Studying these two instruments simultaneously, Chris discovered not only the fun of playing and creating, but also the value of understanding the theory and language of music. Regardless of style, the fundamentals remained the same, and a lot of creative doors and musical avenues opened up a result of this knowledge.

Chris furthered his musical education at the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA where he studied with world class teachers and players alike. In 2004 he moved to Austin, TX and began teaching music as well as recording and performing with various bands. Chris teaches guitar and piano with a “big picture” approach, focusing on music theory and chord structures among other essentials, often using songs to demonstrate these elements in a real world situation. He also plays drums with the Velocity adult class band and enjoys showcasing exceptional students at various events.

“The world of music creates endless possibilities within one’s self and also cultivates meaningful relationships with others. There is something very gratifying about sharing what I’ve learned via my musical journey and seeing students discover their own artistic potential.”
