Our Approach to Kids Music Classes at Velocity Music Academy

These classes are geared for our younger children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Infant and toddler classes will be accompanied by one parent or caregiver. Preschoolers must be fully potty-trained for drop-off classes. Each Music & Movement Class (MMC) will be 45 minutes and meet weekly according to the normal Velocity Music Academy calendar.

Here at Velocity Music Academy, our goal is for every student to LOVE their music classes, teachers, and fellow students as they embark on a rewarding journey of progress and discovery.

Our early childhood music teachers are experienced professionals dedicated to creating a nurturing, music-filled environment for your little one.

In every class, teachers lead exciting and encouraging activities that include songs, dances, finger-plays, and interactive games. We use age-appropriate instruments, colorful scarves, engaging toys, picture books, and fun props to keep children actively involved and learning.

These aren’t just any music activities—you and your child will experience the very best of early childhood music education, designed specifically for young developing minds. Our teachers understand how children learn at this age and know how to make every moment both educational and joyful.

Who are these group classes for?

These classes are geared for our younger children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Infant and toddler classes will be accompanied by one parent or caregiver. Preschoolers must be fully potty-trained for drop-off classes.

How big are classes?

Classes will be limited to 3-6 students and grouped according to age.

What will children learn?

A selection of Traditional, Folk, Nursery Rhymes, Rock-n-Roll, Country, Classical and World music are incorporated each semester. Your child will experience a plethora of musical elements including:
– A wide variety of songs and instrumentation for texture
– Articulation of fun vocabulary through speech and music
– Rhythm patterns to develop steady beat and duration awareness
– Fine motor and gross motor body movement for building coordination
– Music opposites such as high/low, loud/soft, fast/slow to learn pitch, dynamics and tempo
