About Steve Lawler
Steve Lawler graduated from Valparaiso University. He has been playing guitar on and off for about forty years. Steve has been teaching guitar at The Music Connection since it was founded over fifteen years ago. Steve is influenced by Rock & Roll, Blues, Jazz and Classical music and loves to play a lot of different styles. As a young musician, Steve was inspired by other guitarists and strived to continue learning new techniques and creating unique sounds. As a teacher, Steve believes that everyone can learn to play an instrument. His style of teaching is to mix classical technique (with an emphasis on reading music) with popular songs. He likes to have some input from students as to what songs they have a goal of learning. Steve’s favorite thing about teaching is encouraging his students’ curiosity for learning guitar and watching them grow as musicians.
