About Nick B.
Nick is an active drummer, percussionist, and educator from Charleston, South Carolina. He was a teaching assistant at and received his Masters in Performance from the University of North Texas, and his Bachelors in Performance from the University of Kentucky. Nick is able to work with his students of all ages on fundamentals, drumset, orchestral repertoire, competition and audition preparation, as well as music theory and ear training. His students have ranged from beginners and toddlers to college students and professionally touring musicians.
As a performer, Nick has been fortunate enough to share the stage with and record alongside artists such as Jeﬀ Coﬃn (The Dave Matthews Band), Wycliﬀe Gordon, Hilary Kole, Canadian Brass, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, Ryan Anthony, Arturo Sandoval, and many more. He has performed in big bands, regional orchestras, chamber groups, new-music ensembles, percussion ensembles, steel bands, and wind ensembles. He has been heard performing on radio stations across Texas and Kentucky, on live Chinese Television, and is an active drummer in the local music scene.
Nick has been fortunate enough to study with, and is deeply indebted to a few masters in both drumset and percussion; James Campbell, Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Paul Rennick and Quincy Davis. If not teaching at The Music Connection you can ﬁnd him playing around town, practicing, working with a marching band at a local school, hunting for new sounds to play with, teaching lessons, eyeballing recipes, or composing.
