About David Forsman
Born when Eisenhower was president, David Forsman has been a freelancer in the Chicago area for more than 35 years. His teachers include Karl Fruh of Roosevelt, Richard Kapuscinski of Oberlin, Leonard Chausow of the CSO, and Kim Scholes again of Roosevelt University. David has been a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, – once in the ’70s and again in the 90s (!) – the Illinois Philharmonic, the Northwest Indiana Symphony, the Rockford Symphony, etc., and has been an active chamber music player as a founding member of the Calumet Chamber Musicians, Works in Progress, and for the last 5 years the Forsman-Sondag Duo with Music Connection teacher Mindy Sondag. For many years David was the strings coach for the Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony, and is currently Music Director of the Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra. David has, until the pandemic disruption, also been involved teaching the before school violin program Enduring Strings in Crete. Loves the bicycle. Very into historical recordings.
