About Brian Goodman
Brian Goodman teaches piano, guitar, ukulele and electric bass. He is a professional pianist with over a decade of experience teaching and performing. Brian has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music where he studied piano with Dr. I-Hsuan Tsai, percussion with Kevin Lepper and Bret Kuhn, and jazz studies with Tony Kidonakis. Brian earned the Valedictorian Award in 2015 from VanderCook. Brian has a strong foundation in classical pedagogy, jazz harmony/improvisation, and an extensive background in most other western genres. Brian is a former school teacher, having taught all levels of band 5th-12th grade, general music, group guitar and piano, percussion ensemble, and jazz band. When he is not teaching, Brian enjoys performing with ensembles across the Tri-State area. He plays piano and sings weekly at Christ Our Light Church in Hegewisch, Chicago in addition to accompanying choirs, cantors, and soloists. Brian currently plays keyboards with Mr. Lucky and his Jazz Orchestra of Tomorrow and plays/sings with Paul’s Dead (Grateful Dead tribute band). Brian is also a hired gun having filled in with The Buddy Rich Big Band Machine, The Shout Section Big Band, and The Velvet Rose Band.
