About Luke Lykken

I was a music teacher at Karnes Music, teaching all stringed instruments for 24 years. I also taught music at Palatine Music for 32 years, and El -Rey Music for 20 years.

I was a member of various bands: The Black Hills Symphony Orchestra, Rapid City South Dakota, The Sioux City Orchestra, The Forms Band, The City Haul Band, The Pops Band, Lykken Duo. I worked in the Automotive Industry for 40 years. Was a 4 year letterman in Gymnastics at USD. Is a member of WHOS WHO, In Colleges and University’s.

First piece of music that had a profound effect on me: Tumbling Tumbleweeds by The Sons Of The Pioneers. I always liked cowboy music and country and western. Gene Audtry and Roy Rodgers, the singing cowboys were always fun to listen to.

Music teacher who inspired me the most: Johnny Hunt at Olsens Music Center in Palatine Illinois. He pushed me to do my very best at all types of music . He also, started me in a band with my brother and other students. He was a wonderful teacher and person.

How I am making the world a better place: Teaching others how to enjoy music. Helping others when in need.

Favorite quote about music: “Music is life, and Life is music.”
