About Jim
Jim found his love for music at the age of 7 when he began learning piano. After years of lessons, he applied those skills and taught himself guitar and bass as well as vocals. He continued as a piano major in college where his musical diversity helped him excel personally and professionally.
Over the last 30 years, Jim has played in various national and local groups, from record charting groups like Kyper as well as many local bands. He had the opportunity to play with the corporate casino band Shimmur, playing keyboard, bass and guitar as well as vocals. He has played many different styles of piano, from contemporary solo piano at Charley G’s restaurants to pop/rock concerts at the Cajundome. Playing with some of the most talented Louisiana musicians, Jim has found much joy and made many friends over the years from beginning his music journey at a young age.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Jim is able to teach a variety of styles, from technical theory to aural skills, developing a “hearing mind and a thinking ear”. Instilling in his students a love for music, Jim keeps the learning process fun and engaging, while focusing on skills and techniques that will last a lifetime.
