
About Jayvian
Mr. Jayvian is the choir director at Scott Middle School and a private voice/music instructor in Lafayette, LA. He graduated in May of 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance along with coursework in Vocal Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. In his time in undergrad, he participated in many performance ensembles, including choirs, opera, wind bands, and orchestra.
He spent 4 years performing with the Northwestern Chamber Choir, where he was frequently selected as a soloist in various works performed by the choir. One of his favorite memories as a member of the Northwestern Chamber Choir was taking part in their European Competition Tour in the summer of 2019 after his freshman year of college. He got the opportunity to sing in 4 European cities across 3 countries as a member of the university’s premier choral ensemble, as well as a featured soloist on the competition and performance series programs.
Mr. Jayvian was also a part of NSU’s Opera Theater Ensemble for 6 Semesters, singing as part of the Opera Chorus as well as many supporting and lead roles in various productions. His favorite role he had the opportunity to sing is Count Almaviva from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro in his final semester of college. He also competed multiple times in the NATS Conference Competition where he placed First in the Classical Men’s Category singing alongside musicians across Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
Mr. Jayvian is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. The fraternity aims to aid in the advancement of music in America, which is a value that he holds close to his heart. Mr. Jayvian found his love for teaching while mentoring some of his younger colleagues during his time at Lafayette High School. That sparked his journey in teaching, and through all the years since then, the flame has been stoked and grown to this immense passion for teaching and helping people to foster their lives in music.
