About Alyssa
Alyssa comes to The Music Box with over 15 years of piano experience! During her years as a student of piano pedagogy at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she studied classical and collaborative piano with Dr. Chan Kiat Lim, Dr. Susanna Garcia, and Dr. Hecor Landa. While classically training, she has learned to play in a variety of styles and avenues including jazz, pop, folk, accompanying, etc. An enthusiastic participant in many forms of performing arts, Alyssa has also studied voice with professors from UL and LSU, participated in UL opera, UL Bluegrass band, and was a 4 year member of the University Chorale and Chamber Singers.
Awards and accomplishments include: 2nd place in UL’s Frank Hanley piano competition, participation in NATS vocal competition, and performing at the IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass Festival with renowned ETSU Pride Band.
In the community, she has been an active participant, director, and producer of community theatre. With roles in Chicago, IPAL’s Legally Blonde, and CYT’s Mamma Mia, she was inspired to co-found Sagittarius Entertainment, which produces original stage plays and musicals featuring local talent of all ages.
In reflection of her diverse interest in the arts, she is currently working towards Bachelor’s in General Studies / Arts and Humanities from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
