About Tanja
Tanja started learning music at a young age, beginning in her elementary school orchestra playing viola and taking private piano lessons. As her skill as a musician developed, she quickly learned that her true passion was for singing, and she enrolled in the Orange County School for the Arts’ classical voice conservatory. Eventually, she completed her Bachelors and Masters in Opera Performance.
Tanja supplemented her education by immersing herself in teaching, starting out by teaching children’s choirs and private voice and piano lessons, as well as music directing and leading church choirs in California and eventually Chicago. Music has always been a central part of her life and being able to impart the gift of music on to others, both young and old, has been just as rewarding for her as performing on stage.
Apart from music, she am an avid reader, and when I’m not in rehearsal you’re likely to find her buried in a book. Her favorites include East of Eden by John Steinbeck and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which she rereads every year. She also loves to cook, and had she not pursued music, would have loved to become a professional chef. Tanja finds that cooking, just like music, is best when shared with others.
