About Sergey

“Learning music teaches us about beauty, discipline, and humanity. It allows us to explore the best parts of ourselves, while learning how our brain and body functions.”

Sergey Efuni was born in Moscow, Russia to a family of academics. From a young age Sergey was exposed to poetry, theater, and fine art. When he was 12, Sergey’s family came to the United States as refugees, and during that time he discovered songwriting as a way to cope with the difficulties of being a teen refugee.

Sergey began his vocal studies in North Carolina State University with Elvira Green, who was the first black Soprano at The Metropolitan Opera. He continued his studies at Boyer College of Music under the tutelage of an internationally acclaimed jazz singer Joanna Pascale. After moving to Los Angeles, Sergey began a mentorship with Tamara Beatty, who has been a vocal coach on The Voice for over 20 seasons.

Between his studies, Sergey also worked as a full-time artist manager in New York City and Los Angeles. His career spanned working with alumnus of The Voice, American Idol, and AGT such as Wesley Stromberg (AGT winner), and Paxton Ingram, MacKenzie Bourg, and Andrew Foy. Sergey served as the lead project manager at Gramophone Media in Manhattan, where during his tenure Gramophone signed k-pop acts BTS, Tiffany Young, and Monsta X.

Today, Sergey is an actively gigging bandleader of GROMKO. He has performed across the nation at venues like The Hotel Cafe in LA, Rockwood Music Hall in NYC, and Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Sergey combines the experience of an industry insider with the teaching methods of his mentors. Sergey is passionate about supporting the next generation of great artists.
