We all feel like we don’t belong sometimes. Artists, in particular, tend to be a band of historical misfits. So it’s no wonder that there are so many songs about not belonging. If you’re ever having one of those days and need to remind yourself that you aren’t alone, we’ve made you a playlist of songs in multiple genres about not belonging.
1. “Cool Kids,” by Echosmith
Whether you were a cool kid in high school or not, no doubt at some point in your life, you’ve related to these lyrics.
2. “You Belong With Me,” by Taylor Swift
For all the misfits in the bleachers…
3. “Creep,” by Radiohead
Don’t worry, the video is of the clean version.
4. “I’m Not Like Everybody Else,” by the Kinks
The Kinks are not like everybody else and seem fairly comfortable with that.
“Let Your Freak Flag Fly,” from the musical Shrek
If you’d prefer something a little less moody and a lot more celebratory about being an outsider, the one’s for you.
