Michael Woods is a retired timpanist and percussionist with the U.S. Air Force Academy Band (one of two Air Force Premier Bands) and has performed nationally with this band for 22 years as a full-time professional musician.
As an educator, Mr. Woods ensures that his private percussion students reach their full musical growth and potential, while preparing students for school performances, recitals, solo and ensemble festivals, youth orchestra and All State Band auditions. He also assists high school percussionists in successfully entering top university music schools with scholarships.
Michael has earned his Bachelors and Masters of Music (percussion performance) degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree (K-12 Music) from Colorado College as a licensed music educator.
Currently, Mr. Woods is the music teacher at the Cathedral School of St. Jude in St. Petersburg, teaching music fundamentals to 360 EC-4 thru 8th grade music students.
Michael is originally from Cincinnati Ohio and is married to Anna (a HR Manager for Oracle) and has two daughters, Vicky and Jennifer.
