About Alberto

Alberto Marquez started his musical studies in 1989 on the electric guitar. In 1994, he decided to begin a musical journey with the classical guitar. Then, in 2013 he earned a Bachelor’s degree in music performance from University of Arts in Caracas, Venezuela. During that period, he studied with guitarists Samuel Granados and Luis Zea. He also attended, as an active participant, to guitar master classes conducted by Carlos Bonell from England, Berta Rojas from Paraguay, Alirio Díaz from Venezuela, Carlos Barbosa-Lima from Brasil, James Piorkowski from U.S.A and Aldo Lagrutta from Venezuela.

From 2007 to 2013, he worked as a classical guitar teacher at Emil Friedman Primary School. In September 2013, he flew to New York, to play at CBGB’s Music Festival as the titular bassist of the southern rock band Greasy Grapes, with whom he recorded the albums At the back of the hill (2009), Headed South (2012) and Lengua Madre (2013).
