About Marty Binder
Marty Binder has been playing drums, touring, and recording for over 30 years. He keeps a busy schedule playing local venues, festivals, corporate and private events. He has played with Blues greats, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Albert Collins and many more. He has recorded for historic Chicago record label Delmark records as well as Blind Pig records, Severn records and Virgin/Point Blank records. Marty’s touring schedule has taken him all over the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Japan and Australia.
He studied classical guitar with Norman Ruiz and Jazz guitar at the Bloom school of Jazz. He specializes in acoustic guitar, Fingerstyle, Blues and Bluegrass. He is also well versed in Rock styles on electric guitar.
Marty also specializes in Jazz Vibraphone and has many performance videos of the great Milt Jackson’s solos
For over 20 years Marty’s teaching experience includes Chris Crisanti percussion studio in Brookfield, North Shore Music Institute in North Field and private home lessons in affiliation with Hinsdale middle school and high school.
Marty believes in learning the fundamentals of Music. For Drums, learning the rudiments, reading music, learning many styles and fills, performing solos and learning from the greats. For Guitar, good technique, learning melody and chord progressions and knowing the fretboard. He encourages students to bring in music they are excited about and want to learn.
