Our Guitar & Bass Teachers:

We have several extremely qualified guitar instructors to choose from for people of all ages. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, we will find an instructor that will suit your individual needs. Each lesson is catered to you and your unique style of learning. Our instructors will teach you what you want to learn, whether that’s rock music or folk music, it’s all up to you!

Playing the guitar requires more physical dexterity than some other instruments. Pressing down on strings to create chord patterns, fingerpicking, and plucking the strings takes a certain amount of muscular development and coordination in the hands. For that reason, very small hands won’t be effective at forming many chord patterns. In general, we do not suggest beginning guitar lessons before age five.

At Schaumburg Music Academy, we typically work with guitar and ukulele students aged 5-Adult.  Adult students of all ages and levels are also welcome. You’re never too old to begin!
