About Matt Levin
Matthew Levin is a composer and pianist from Indiana. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Indiana University, where he studied with P. Q. Phan and Jeremy Podgursky. He teaches piano, composition, and music theory to students of all ages and experience levels.
Matthew’s teaching is grounded in the belief that music education should cultivate listening, curiosity, and creative thinking—not only technical skill at the instrument. While he has a deep love for the piano, his goal is to give students musical tools that extend beyond any single instrument and support expression across disciplines. His approach supports both long-term pianists and students who may later pursue other musical or artistic paths, fostering skills that remain valuable throughout a lifetime of creative learning.
In his studio, Matthew places intentional emphasis on listening and engagement with music of many styles through guided listening, reflection, and discussion, encouraging students to explore their own musical tastes and develop a personal relationship with music
