About John Shea
John describes himself as detailed, punctual and positive. He is originally from Northeast Iowa, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental and Classroom Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa. John performed on the saxophone on a European Tour called the Iowa Ambassadors of Music while in high school. While in college, he was heavily involved in small group and large group ensembles for concert band, jazz band, and marching band. He was also heavily involved in his local band director’s organization through the college doing organizing and participating in music education events. John is currently teaching as an Elementary General Music Teacher for the Rochester Public School District.
“I am of the opinion that music is a universal language, and I believe that it is an important outlet to help teach students how to communicate and express themselves. It can be such a helpful tool for connecting with and understanding the experiences of others.”
