About Ray Hidrogo
Ray Hidrogo has been playing musical instruments since the age of five. His first instrument was flute, and for six years his flute studies were mostly centered on classical music. His second instrument was guitar, and he has continued to study guitar until today. His first solo gig was at fourteen years of age for Santa Clara University.
After attending a George Duke music clinic at the age of twelve, he was inspired to take on the study of jazz music. During his high school years Ray studied with Joe Henderson, Mark Stephani, and Tuck Andress. In 1980 Ray moved to LA to study at UCLA’s Dick Grove School of Music, where he earned a BA in Music Performance and Audio Engineering.
Ray has toured in the U.S., Europe, and East Asia. He has performed in concert with big name acts like The Isley Brothers and The Chantels. Other notable performances include playing with greats from the world of jazz, rock, and folk music, such as Wille Dixon, India, David Sanchez, Malo, Gato Barbieri, Emily Lord, Mingo Lewis, and Sista Monica. Ray performed on the soundtrack for the films Tron and Loving Amazon.
He continues to teach private lessons, clinics, and workshops in both musical performance and audio engineering.
