About Michael
Michael is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance. He studied with Juilliard alumni Dr. David Korevaar and Dr. Andrew Cooperstock. Additionally, Michael holds his Associate of Arts in music from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. He was awarded the piano scholarship for all of his years at DVC and performed Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Diablo Valley Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California.
Michael enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels. He believes that music should be enjoyable and works to meet the individual needs of each student. He focuses on building strong foundational skills early on to support each student in all of their music making. One of his favorite things about the piano is the wide variety of music that can be played on it. Michael sees music as an invaluable part of one’s education and considers learning the piano to be an excellent way to challenge the brain and develop lifelong skills including discipline, focus, and patience. Michael has been a part of Reeder Music Academy since 2016.
