About Jamie Mulfinger
Mrs. Mulfinger holds Bachelor of Music, Master of Education, and Master of Music degrees and is a San Jose State University alumni. She attended masterclasses from pianists Alexander Peskanov and Anne Epperson and studied with Gustavo Cardinal at Interlochen International Fine Arts Academy and is a former student of Dr. Dan Steenson and Dr. Christopher Dillon.
Mrs. Mulfinger was principal flautist for Nova Vista Symphony under the baton of Nuvi Mehta and Ann Krinitsky and was rotating principal flautist for Redwood Symphony for ten years under Maestro Eric Kujawsky. She studied flute with Isabelle Chapuis Starr, Dr. Karen Kuehmann and Alice McGonigal and performed in masterclasses for Robert Stallman, William Bennett, Steven Preston, Julius Baker, Paula Robison, and Jim Walker. She is the award recipient of the Alice Nelson California State Music Competition, Betty Evans Music Competition, SJSU Concerto Competition 2002, San Jose Music Study Club Young Artist Award 2nd place 2005, Redwood Symphony Concerto Competition, and William C. Byrd Woodwind Competition Semi-Finalist, 2009.
Mrs. Mulfinger studied violin and viola in college as her minor instrument with private lessons and string pedagogy. She attended Suzuki violin lessons most of her life, taking weekly lesson notes for her violinist siblings and still uses many of these techniques in her own teachings. After college, Jamie continued her studies with Betsy Braun, graduate of San Francisco Conservatory and has taught in the string division at Valley Christian Schools teaching elementary through Junior High string class and conducted string performances at Mountain Winery, Saratoga for Festival of the Arts, 2023.
Mrs. Mulfinger regularly accompanies California Music Educators Association (CMEA) competitions and choirs and recitals and was choral and instrumental pianist for Valley Christian School under direction of Dr. Mark Hulse and DeAnza College choirs under direction of Dan Morris. Mrs. Mulfinger serves as the South Bay director of Arete Singers Network in Los Altos and has over ten years experience directing adult and children’s choirs.
