About Alexander Xie
Alexander Xie is a high school junior with a strong passion for music. A dedicated and accomplished musician, he began playing the piano at the age of four. Alexander debuted as a pianist at age nine at Carnegie Hall after winning the Grand Prix prize in the New York International Festival with a $1,500 scholarship.
Alex has also won numerous accolades in both national and international competitions. In 2017, he secured first place in the contemporary category of the East Bay Music Foundation Competition. Alexander was the first-place winner in the Silicon Valley competition in 2023 and runner-up in the Carmel Klavier Music Competition the same year. He has also received top awards in the MTAC Piano Concerto Competition, the US Open Music Competition, and the Charleston International Music Competition. Beyond the piano, Alexander is an accomplished percussionist, starting at the age of seven. In 2021, he was the runner-up in the Percussive Arts Society Solo Competition. Additionally, his percussion ensemble has been invited annually to the Junior Bach Festival since 2020 as first-prize winners and performed at the Cabrillo Music Festival in 2024. Alex currently plays with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and has been a member since 2024. His dedication to both piano and percussion showcases his versatility as a musician and underscores his commitment to artistic excellence.
