What is the minimum age to start woodwind lessons at Old Towne Music?
Learning the flute, clarinet or saxophone requires that you not only be able to physically handle the instrument, but also have the lung capacity to produce the right sound and tone. We recommend starting woodwind lessons no earlier than age eight. At this point, students tend to have the necessary physical attributes that allow them to be successful when learning to play the clarinet or saxophone.
In addition to physical development, reading and comprehension skills must also be developing in order for a student to achieve proficiency.
