About Austin Peters
Austin Peters is a multi-instrumentalist & vocalist with a lifelong passion for music. Inspired by the great players of the 20th century, Austin has been playing music since age 12 and began performing professionally at 17, balancing academic competitions with real world experience.
He has performed in a wide variety of settings, from marching bands to jazz choirs, always with an ear towards classic American music, particularly the Great American Songbook. In addition to his performing experience, Austin has also composed and arranged music for live bands and recording sessions.
Austin is an alumnus of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Studies, and has been teaching music professionally since 2016. He believes that new musicians are best served by developing a solid foundation, and excels at working with beginners of all ages.
Whether you’d like to learn to read sheet music or tablature, prepare for an audition, play entirely by ear, hone your skills for open mic night, sharpen your music theory chops, or simply dip your toe into a new hobby, Austin will tailor lessons to suit your needs first!
