About Timothy Calvin
Location: North Fulton School of Music Alpharetta
Tim Feverston began his musical journey at the age of 8 in Centerville, Ohio. He chose to play the violin because of a very firm “no” from his mother in regards to playing the drums instead. He continued with violin all the way through high school, learning to play all sorts of musical styles such as jazz, swing, bluegrass, the blues, and more. Halfway through his undergraduate studies at Marshall University, he began studying viola as well. Taken away by the warm tones, he switched from violin to viola and earned a BFA in viola performance. He then went on to study with Hillary Herndon at the University of Tennessee, graduating with his MM in viola performance. Since then, Tim has become an expert in finding comfort in violin and viola setup with his publication, “Leave it to the Rests!,” found in the Journal of the American Viola Society. He also devoted the past few years to the study of cello and is currently his primary instrument of choice.
After living in Atlanta for just over a year now, Tim plays regularly with the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra on cello, and sings bass in churches across the Metro Atlanta area. With ten years of experience teaching strings, he remains dedicated to helping his students find a comfortable and pain-free approach to playing music.
