Natalia Rust graduated with honors from Kharkiv Music College named after Lyatoshinsky (Ukraine), with a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts and Teaching Music, and from Kharkiv University of Music and Arts named after Kotliarevsky (Ukraine) with a Master’s Degree in Performing Arts and Teaching Music. Before immigrating to the United States in 2008, she was a piano and domra/mandolin teacher at the Kharkiv School of Music and Arts and a concertmaster for the Slavic Children Folk Instruments Orchestra in Kharkiv, Ukraine. She was a member of that orchestra for 30 years, starting at the age of 8, and served as the concertmaster for the last 8 years after graduation from the University. Natalia works as a private piano and domra/mandolin teacher in the United States. She performs with the American Balalaika Symphony (Washington, DC), the Atlanta Balalaika Society Orchestra, and the ensemble “Balalaika Fantasie” (Atlanta, GA). Natalia uses various effective specialist teaching techniques to make lessons fun and enjoyable. She helps students to understand music theory as a basis for their learning.
