Laurie Swann, mezzo-soprano, has been a featured soloist during All Saints’ Choir’s appearances at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, Washington National Cathedral, and The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and may be heard as a soloist on their CDs, Promised Land and A Christmas Alleluia. She has sung performances of Bach’s St. John Passion and B Minor Mass as well as Handel’s Messiah with the Athens Master Chorale, and sang the premiere of Douglas Major’s Requiem in C Minor with All Saints’ Choir under the direction of Raymond Chenault.
She was the Voice of Peace for the premiere of Sharon J. Willis’ oratorio A Celebration Mass, performed by the DeKalb Choral Guild in honor of the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. Among her many other solo oratorio performances are the Magnificats of both Bach and Ralph Vaughan-Williams, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, the Requiem Masses of Mozart and Duruflé, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, and Karl
Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace.
