About Lisa Braz
Lisa Braz has played the piano as long as she can remember and feels blessed for being given piano lessons as a child. Her deep love of music is one of the true joys of her life. She has been teaching students (ages 5-adults ) private and group piano lessons for 14 years. She feels privileged and honored to guide her students along the path of music. She aims to be a light in her student’s lives; someone who appreciates their potential, recognizes their uniqueness and celebrates their efforts. She believes in building a strong foundation of sight-reading, ear training, technique, theory, rhythm, musicianship, and effective practicing. While her main emphasis is “classical music” she also likes to share and explore other various genres/styles of piano music within her lessons. As a trained visual artist, she loves to encourage her students to use music as a creative outlet for personal self expression through
improvisation and compostition.
She strives to help students experience the rewards of mastering self-discipline, dedication and determination through the process of becoming a musician. She particularly enjoys guiding students through the RCM/Royal Conservatory of Music testing and level advancement and preparing them to perform in recitals and special events. Her main goal for all her students is for them to develop a musical foundation which will inspire them to continue playing and appreciating music for their lifetime. Beside her private piano instruction, she has studied music at San Francisco State University, The California Jazz Conservatory, and Las Positas College Jazz Program. She holds certificates in Piano Pedagogy from both Las Positas College and The Royal Conservatory of Music.
