About Karen Stasko Veca

Karen Stasko Veca was raised in Livermore and received her early musical training from the Livermore School District. She went on to San Jose State University, where she earned a B.A. in music, studying with Isabelle Chapuis Starr. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, winning many of their solo competitions. Karen is currently principal flutist with the Livermore Valley Opera and Tri-Valley Repertory Theater. She also performs with the Whaler’s Island Jazz Trio with her husband, Don Veca. She was previously the principal flutist for Tassajara Symphony, ProArt Symphony, and the Livermore Amador Symphony. Karen enjoys chamber music performances, playing with many Bay Area groups, including the Livermore Woodwind Quintet and the Pleasanton Chamber Players. She has taught music for the Livermore School District and is currently the flute instructor for Aragon High School in San Mateo. She has been teaching privately for over 30 years.
