STUDIO POLICY AND AGREEMENT
This Studio Policy and Agreement is a legal contract between Studio and Parent/Student for private/semi-private music lessons provided by Studio to Student. Parent/Student agrees to enroll with Studio for such lessons and abide by the provisions of the Studio Policy, as a condition to Studio providing music lessons to Student.
Private/Semi-Private lessons are conducted on a weekly basis for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the lesson remains the same, regardless of tardy arrival by Student. Each student is designated a specific, ongoing weekly day and time for lessons which has been reserved exclusively for Student, which generally precludes Studio from accepting other teaching opportunities during that time. Therefore, Student is expected to attend all scheduled lessons, unless otherwise arranged in advance with the Studio.
All lessons are scheduled back-to-back, so please try to arrive on time so you receive the time you’ve paid for. We cannot “go over” for students who arrive late, as this is not fair for the following student. Parents must not drop children off earlier than 10 minutes before their class. Students must be picked up immediately following their class. We cannot be responsible for overseeing students outside of class. If you arrive early or while another lesson is finishing, please come in and sit quietly in the waiting area. Your teacher will open the door when it is time for your lesson.
All monthly tuition payments will be paid through our Tuition Auto Pay (TAP) system. The appropriate monthly tuition will be drafted on the 1st of each month. You may not deduct for lessons that you expect to miss. Parents/Students are required to fill out the TAP enrollment form. A late charge of $10.00 must be included for tuition received after the second class of each month. A $20 fee will be charged for any payment rejection. All students are required to pay a yearly, non-refundable registration fee of $40 per student. This fee will be pro-rated according to the month you start. After that, the fee will be due the first week of January of every year.
We will do our best to provide make-up times for classes missed due to illness or other legitimate excuse; however, attendance is your responsibility. Credit is not given for missed classes. Students must notify of a lesson cancellation a minimum of 24 hours prior to lesson time. If 24 hours’ notice is given, then a make-up lesson will be scheduled at the earliest possible date. If less than 24 hours notice is given, students will be charged for the scheduled lesson and no make-ups will be given. Any missed lessons, which are not made-up by the end of the month, may still be made up the following month, however they cannot be used as credits towards your next month’s bill. Please remember it is your responsibility to call and re-schedule missed lessons. You have 3 months to make-up your missed lesson.
In the event that your teacher is absent, we will do our best to provide another teacher to teach your lesson at your usual time. However, if we do not have another teacher, you will be notified and given the option to re-schedule the class.
Leave of Absences
In the event of an extended leave of absence, Student’s day/time slot may be reserved for a maximum of 4 weeks at the discretion of the studio. Absences longer than 4 weeks must either pay for missed lessons or release the slot and contact Studio upon returning for availability. Also required to hold the slot is a payment of 4 lessons, to be credited to Student’s account. Failure to submit payment before leaving will automatically forfeit Student’s slot.
Termination of Lessons
Lessons are continuous and ongoing, effective as of the date of this Studio Agreement written above. Student may terminate lessons for any reason. To terminate lessons, Student must provide at least one full month’s advance notice to Studio. Canceling without one month’s notice will result in a $70 cancellation fee to be charged to the account on file. No refunds will be given for lessons that have been paid for if cancellation is within a month. Studio may also terminate lessons for any reason, at the sole discretion of Studio. If Studio terminates lessons, tuition will be pro-rated up to the last lesson taken and a refund provided, if applicable.
Parents at Lessons
Parents and siblings are welcome to attend and quietly wait in the waiting area however disruption of classes by parents, siblings, or others, will not be tolerated. Sitting in the classroom with your child during the lesson is not allowed, unless permitted by the teacher. In some cases, with very young students (4-5 years old) the teacher may request that a parent observe the lesson for the first few weeks.
