About Sarah Kanyok
Sarah began piano lessons at age 4 and quickly fell in love with the instrument. By age 10 she was singing in choirs and playing flute in band. After growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Sarah attended Northern Illinois University and received a bachelor’s degree in music education with a vocal emphasis. While at NIU Sarah began playing guitar and has been playing it ever since. As a versatile musician she has also added ukulele to the roster of instruments she can play.
Sarah has sung with numerous professional choirs in the Chicago and Denver areas. She was a staff singer at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Denver for five years and is currently employed as a staff musician/director’s assistant at Christ Episcopal Church in Denver. Sarah started teaching private lessons in 2004 and has dedicated herself to inspiring a love of music in all her students. With over 20 years of teaching experience in piano, voice, guitar, flute, and ukulele, she is passionately committed to music.
