2023 Studio Holiday Schedule
In 2023, Neighborhood Music will be closed on the following days. These closures are already accounted for in your tuition, so no makeups will be issued.
- New Years Day – Sunday Jan 1st
- Memorial Day – Sunday 5/28-Monday 5/29
- Independence Day – Tuesday July 4th – Thursday July 6th
- Labor Day – Sunday 9/3-Monday 9/4
- Thanksgiving Break – Tuesday 11/21-Friday 11/24
- Winter Break – Friday 12/22-Monday 1/1
Cancellations:
- If you ever need to cancel a single lesson (or several lessons, but you plan to keep your recurring spot), please email us at info@neighborhoodmusicstanley.com with at least 24 hours’ notice.
- With 24 hours notice, we can issue a makeup lesson to your account (up to two makeups per student per month).
- Without 24 hours notice, the lesson is considered a no-show and cannot be rescheduled, as we pay our teachers for same-day cancellations in order to protect their income in an industry where income can be inconsistent.
- If you ever need to cancel recurring lessons altogether, let us know no later than the 25th of the month.
- Once your card is charged, we cannot issue a refund.
- Any prepaid lessons remaining are subject to our normal makeup policy.
Makeups
- Taking weekly recurring lessons is a commitment, not only to the student’s education but also to our teachers and their schedules. Students are paying for a weekly time slot with their teacher, rather than paying for a series of individual lessons.
- To that end and to help protect our teachers’ income, we will issue makeup lessons for up to two lessons per month per student for lessons canceled by the student with at least 24-hours’ notice.
- Same-day cancellations are considered no-shows as we pay our teachers for same-day cancellations in order to protect their income in an industry where income can be inconsistent.
- We understand that things sometimes come up last minute! Please see below for more information on same-day cancellations.
- Any additional cancellations for the same month will be treated as no-shows regardless of whether or not we receive advance notice. Teachers will be paid for the lesson as normal and the lesson will not be rescheduled.

- Makeup lessons are issued to the account and can be rescheduled as lessons for anyone in the household for any instrument with any teacher, pending availability.
- Makeups can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
- Makeups expire 60 days after the missed lesson date (for example, a makeup issued for a lesson on 3/15 would expire on 5/15).
- It is the responsibility of the student to reschedule their makeups before they expire. We do not guarantee that a teacher will have availability for makeups.
- Makeup lessons cannot be used to prorate tuition. They must be scheduled outside of a student’s normal recurring lesson time.
Same-Day Cancellations
We understand that sometimes it isn’t possible to give 24-hours notice for cancellations – students wake up sick, cars break down, last-minute plans arise. In an effort to take better care of our students and families, we are shifting our makeup policy regarding same-day cancellations as well.
24-hours notice will still be required for us to issue a makeup. However, students will have a few options for same-day cancellations :
- If students are feeling well enough, they are welcome to take a virtual lesson at their scheduled time with their scheduled teacher.
- Alternatively, if it is possible to reschedule the lesson for the same week with the same teacher at the time of the cancellation, we would be happy to do that!
- Please note: If the original lesson teacher does not have any availability within one week of the original lesson (or if their availability does not work for the student’s schedule), then we cannot reschedule the lesson and the lesson will be considered a no-show.
Studio-Cancelled Lessons
A lot of our teachers are professional musicians! This allows a really unique perspective for our students, especially those who might want to continue with music as a career. This also means that sometimes our teacher’s gig schedules conflict with their lesson schedules. We will always alert you with as much notice as possible.
In the event of a studio-cancelled lesson (a teacher is unavailable or out sick, for example):
- Students have three options:
- A substitute teacher (if available)
- A makeup lesson (does not count against the student’s two makeups/month)
- A credit (a monetary amount will be taken off of the next month’s tuition).
- We will default to a makeup lesson to give students the opportunity to still take the lesson. If you would prefer another option, please let us know at the time of notification, and we would be happy to check for substitutes or issue a credit instead!
Billing:
- Recurring tuition is billed monthly on the 27th of each month.
- If you ever need to cancel recurring lessons altogether, let us know no later than the 25th of the month.
- Once your card is charged, we cannot issue a refund.
- Any prepaid lessons remaining are subject to our normal makeup policy.
- Tuition is based on the studio being open for 49 weekly lessons per month regardless of the day of the week (meaning we will be open for 49 Sundays, 49 Mondays, 49 Tuesdays, etc.).
- We do not prorate tuition.
- Exceptions:
- If a student begins in the middle of a month, we will bill for the remaining lessons that month at time of booking and set up recurring billing beginning with the following month. Every month after that will be billed the full flat-rate.
- In the event of a studio-cancelled lesson (a teacher out sick for example), we are able to, upon request, issue a credit to your account for the missed lesson which will come off of the next month’s tuition.

Pricing
There are 49 lessons per year.
- 15-minutes: $80/month
- 30-minutes: $155/month
- 45-minutes: $230/month
- 60-minutes: $300/month
