About Reed Demangone
Reed Demangone is an internationally recognized countertenor and teacher from Pittsburgh, PA who loves to push the envelope of what is expected from a classical singer, and constantly seeks to go outside the box. Reed has been teaching and tutoring a breadth of subjects since 2018 including voice, piano, and bass guitar. Reed earned his bachelors of music at the prestigious College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati (CCM), followed by a Masters of Music from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, a program specializing in early music. While his degrees are in the classical music style, his roots are in musical theatre with over 16 years of experience performing in musicals. He is a firm believer in the idea of “cross-training,” and makes sure his students know that there is plenty to be learned from any style of music. As a performer, Reed has portrayed a variety of characters ranging from standard countertenor repertoire, recently “Tirinto” in Handel’s Imeneo, to unexpected roles such as “L’Opinion Publique” in Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers, or “The Sorceress” in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. Most recently, Reed had the privilege to perform two roles with the Grammy-award winning Boston Early Music Festival as a resident young artist, giving him even more experience to share with his students. As a life-long learner, he is always looking for opportunities to deepen his knowledge, and to pass it on to the next generation.
