About Pierson Keating
Pierson Keating, originally from West Virginia in the heart of Appalachia, began his musical journey with classical training, and soon developed a love for jazz, instilled in him by his grandparents, Iris Bell and Derek Pierson (his mother’s parents). Throughout his accomplished musical career, he has collaborated with Nashville and LA session and touring musicians, and performed in venues ranging from street corners to piano bars to cruise ships to concert halls. In addition, he has written and taught music influenced by the tradition of jazz with elements of rock and pop. He is also passionate about teaching piano and songwriting and through his teaching journey has learned the value (and fun) of passing along the knowledge and experience he’s been lucky enough to gain. In his words: “Since music is like life on so many levels, teaching it is really showing someone how to creatively and playfully engage with life.”
