
About Evan K. Brown
Evan K. Brown is a passionate voice educator and professional tenor, committed to guiding singers at all levels toward vocal excellence. Praised for his “unfailingly vigorous” voice, Evan brings a wealth of performance experience to his teaching, helping students—from beginners exploring their voices to aspiring professionals preparing for the stage—develop confidence, technique, and artistic expression.
A native of Texas, Evan has built a successful operatic career, beginning with Austin Opera and progressing to leading roles such as Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Butler Opera Center), Luigi in Il Tabarro (Angels Vocal Art), and Don José in Carmen (MIOpera). His concert and oratorio work includes performances with the Texas Bach Festival, the Austin Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and the SMU Meadows Symphony. In the 23-24 season, he appeared as Rodolfo in La Bohème, Ghermann in The Queen of Spades, and covered Canio in Pagliacci at the Glimmerglass Festival.
As an educator, Evan is dedicated to fostering healthy vocal technique, musicality, and performance confidence in singers of all backgrounds. Whether working with young students building foundational skills, university students refining their artistry, or advanced singers preparing for professional auditions, he tailors his instruction to meet each singer’s unique needs. His teaching philosophy integrates technical development, stylistic versatility, and performance readiness, equipping students with the tools to thrive in any musical setting.
Evan holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Opera Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also taught voice. He is deeply invested in mentoring students through all stages of their vocal journey and helping them achieve their personal and professional singing goals.
