About Eric Ching
Eric Ching is a jazz drummer and composer currently residing in Austin, TX. He plays music with the same tremendous amount of purpose that he applies to his studio!
Eric grew up in the SF Bay Area where he studied with Akira Tana (Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt) and spent much of his time driving up to the city to go to jam sessions. He studied at New York University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education studying under Ron McClure (Joe Henderson, Wynton Kelly), Sean Statser (NYU Percussion), and briefly with Kenny Washington (renowned jazz drummer).
As a teacher, Eric helps his students find their creative passion. Music is about discovering what moves you, and being able to express those ideas through your instrument. Eric combines technical knowledge with a wholistic understanding of music to create a one-of-a-kind curriculum.
