About Carson Alexander
“IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO HONE YOUR TALENTS FOR THE STAGE OR ARE JUST STARTING YOUR JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF PLAYING MUSIC I LOOK FORWARD TO HELPING YOU GROW”
I was born in Dallas, TX and raised in West Memphis, AR. Being less than 10 min away from Memphis, TN where I “cut my teeth” playing Funk, R&B, Blues, and Rock on Beale Street. I moved to Austin in June of 2005 at the suggestion of Clifford Antone, and soon met many fantastic musicians like Monte Montgomery, Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton, Gary Clark Jr., Doyle Bramhall II, Eric Johnson, Jimmie Vaughan, Malford Milligan, Derek O’Brian, George DeVore ect…
From the age of 18 years old until today, I fronted my own cover band, the Carson Alexander band. We played in and around Austin, TX. Core members have included Kenny Sharretts on drums, Jemmie Hill on bass, Matthew Temple on bass, and Jake Sherard on guitar. We have mostly played Blues/Rock, Southern Rock and Classic Rock, with modern covers thrown in as well. Covers ranged from Jimi Hendrix to The Doors to John Mayer to Ryan Adams to Doyle Bramhall II and everything in between.
In May of 2010, I began playing lead guitar for Country-Rock artist Bleu Edmondson. Bleu’s “Finger on the Trigger” topped out at #3 on the CMT charts, and the single remained on the Top 12 charts for 12 weeks. His newest chart topping singles include “Blood Red Lincoln” and “No Room For Mercy”. As a part of Bleu’s touring band, I got to meet many new fans and see many places all over the United States. A very exciting and beautiful experience for the year I was with the group.
I have been teaching guitar since I was about 18 years old and, spent 7 years as an instructor at Danny Ray’s Music in Round Rock, TX. From beginner’s guitar instruction and learning cover songs to songwriting structure and advanced soloing techniques; If you’re looking to hone your talents for the stage or, are just starting your journey into the world of playing music—- I look forward to helping you grow in your appreciation and understanding of the instrument.
For the better part of the last 10 years I have also delved deeply into luthier and guitar tech/setup work. Work that I still continue today. If you’re needing any assistance in this area… feel free to inquire.
