Our Woodwinds Teachers:
Each student’s musical tastes and aptitudes are unique, so we customize our lesson plans accordingly. Students will learn music reading, performance skills, improvisation skills, and theory skills. The teachers are subject to availability.

Jake Markman-Fox
Piano, Sax, Clarinet and Flute
Jake has been playing saxophone for 13 years and holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Oklahoma, where he studied with renowned musicians Dr. Jonathan Nichol and Professor Jay Wilkinson.

Danielle Spencer
Piano, Voice, Flute
Danielle is a classically trained musician specializing in vocal technique, piano, music theory and analysis, and flute. As a trauma-informed music educator with over 30 years of industry experience, Danielle is dedicated to fostering musical literacy and resilience in learners of all ages and skill levels.

Get StartedWhat Is the Minimum Age to Start Flute Lessons at Musicians Woodshed?
An instrument like the flute requires a certain level of physical development and dexterity. Proper lung capacity is needed to produce the right sound and tone. We recommend starting woodwind lessons no earlier than age eight. At this point, students tend to have the necessary physical attributes that allow them to be successful when learning to play the clarinet or saxophone.
