About Nini Marchese

Coloratura soprano Nini Marchese, praised for her “bright, supple soprano” (San Diego Story) performs widely in operatic,concert, and ensemble singing. Teaching since 2016, she is thrilled to be a part of each of her student’s musicalexploration and expression. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in Bel Canto technique, which offers a solid foundation inbreath support and body alignment.

Her recent opera projects include the roles Margret/Lizzie Borden, Nerea/Polifemo, Barbarina/Le nozze di Figaro, andAdina/Elixir of Love. Nini premiered the role of The Computer in Shara Nova and Matthew Ritchie’s Infinite Movement,presented as part of Ritchie’s four-part installation, Florilegium. She is an alum of apprenticeships with Opera Idaho, andConfidencen Opera and Music Festival in Solna, Sweden. Pursuing her special interest in baroque music, Nini receivedthe Audrey Rooney Bach Competition Encouragement Award. She has performed as soloist in St. John Passion,Christmas Oratorio, Magnificat, Handel’s Brockes Passion, Messiah, as well as many cantatas. She has performed withensembles including Spoleto Festival USA, Taylor Festival Choir, Orpheus Chamber Singers, Dallas Bach Society,Houston Chamber Choir, Bach Society Houston, among others. Nini studied Vocal Performance at University of IllinoisUrbana-Champaign for her Bachelor of Music degree, and the University of North Texas for her Master of Music degreeand Artist Certificate.
