About Jennifer Murray
Jennifer Murray has always had a love for music, and when she heard the Star Wars MainTheme demonstrated on the cello at eight years old, she knew that was the instrument for her.Along with playing as principal cellist in the Buffalo Grove High School Symphony Orchestra, Jennifer participated in honors orchestra, pit orchestra for the yearly musical, and various chamber groups. She also had the opportunity to perform a cello solo accompanied by the orchestra her senior year.
As she attended Marquette University to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Doctor of Physical Therapy, Jennifer continued to play her cello in the Marquette University Symphony Orchestra as principal cellist and with the Marquette University String Quartet that played at various galas and graduation ceremonies.
Jennifer currently plays with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra as a guest cellist. In addition to the cello, Jennifer loves to spend time learning other instruments including piano, ukulele, shamisen (while studying abroad in Japan), and most recently, the bagpipes with the Chicago Celtic Pipe Band.
Jennifer brings a good combination of fundamentals and fun to her lessons, since building a solid foundation is just as important as enjoying the music that’s being played. She understands that each student learns in their own unique way and will adapt her lessons accordingly. Apart from music, Jennifer enjoys crocheting, reading, and spending time with her daughter and two ragdoll cats.
