About Erik Swanson
An exceptional musician, Erik won a major Chicago-area bass solo contest early in his career. He was awarded the grand prize, a $2,000 Modulus bass guitar. He went on to participate in the IBC Jazz Studies Program, and has been teaching privately at Musical Expressions 20 years while performing professionally in numerous bands. Over the years, Erik has developed an extensive beginner through advanced guitar and bass curriculum. He has much to offer through his extensive knowledge of popular musical styles and techniques. Erik’s reputation as an excellent teacher generates him referrals on a regular basis. He currently performs around 200 shows a year with the band Soda. He has been a member of The Cathy Richardson Band and can be heard on Cathy’s Grammy nominated CD The Road to Bliss. He is currently recording with Ian Narcisi. Erik has also played on nationally run commercials for GNC and True Value Hardware. Erik also teaches guitar & bass at the Naperville Presbyterian Church summer music program. He has played at such famous venues as the House of Blues, Park West, the legendary CBGB’s in New York City and performed on the television show, FOX Thing in the Morning. Current projects include an instructional book and CD for slap bass.
